Is spray tanning safe?

Absolutely! It is a safe alternative to tanning beds and UV rays of the sun. It’s endorsed by The Skin Cancer Organization, The American Cancer Society, The American Medical Association, and The American Academy of Dermatology. The FDA has tested and approved DHA (described below) for use on the skin.

What is DHA and how does it tan my skin?

DHA or Dihydroxyacetone, the active tanning ingredient in our solution, is derived from vegetable origin or sugar beets and has been FDA approved for topical application and used for tanning creams since the 1960s. DHA has also been used in cosmetics for decades. It is considered non-carcinogenic and nontoxic.

This main ingredient is airbrushed onto the body and reacts with the proteins in the top layers of the skin to produce a natural-looking, golden tan after it is applied.

Does spray tanning protect from the sun?

NO! Spray tanning DOES NOT protect the skin from the sun. We recommend everyone use sunscreen on a daily basis and especially when you will be out in the sun. We recommend an oil-free sunscreens such as Sun Bum SPF 50 or Elta MD SPF 50 oil free.

Will I turn orange?

No, of course not! Our solutions are designed to provide natural and conservative results. Our custom blended tan gives you a nice golden-brown tan. Streakiness is caused by improper application of tanning lotions and misting booths, which is why you should always let a trained professional apply your custom airbrush spray tan.

Will my tan conceal skin imperfections, such as varicose veins, cellulite, and stretch marks?

Having a custom airbrush sunless tan can help conceal your skin’s imperfections, giving you the appearance of a smoother, more even skin tone.

How long will my appointment take?

Please plan on 20-30 minutes for your tanning appointment.

How long before my special event should I get my spray tan?

We recommend getting your spray tan two days before your big day to ensure a flawless tan.

How long will my spray tan last?

Results may vary by skin type. However, most custom airbrush spray tans last 5 to 7 days with proper care. Limiting your exposure to water, moisturizing with coconut oil after showers, and applying a tan extender every 1 to 2 days will prolong your tan.

How often can I get a spray tan?

Tanning can be performed about every seven to ten days depending on the condition of your skin. Spray tanning back to back on the same day is not advised, as it does not give the DHA time to set between tans.

Will the tanning solution stain my clothes?

For the first few hours after your spray tan, rub-off may occur. However, any rub-off of the initial bronzer should easily wash out of most fabrics. Avoid nylon, silk, or wool as these may absorb the bronzer. Please be mindful that the bronzer may rub off on fabrics, such as car seats and furniture. Please be careful to cover items you are concerned about prior to your first shower.

What should I do to prepare for my spray tanning session?

Shower and exfoliate prior to your session. It is very important for your skin to be smooth, clean and dry to get the best possible result with your sunless tan. NO LOTION on the skin prior to tanning! We recommend pre-tan exfoliating 12 hours prior with a rough washcloth or exfoliating glove and oil-free body wash/scrub. We do not recommend using a loofah sponge to exfoliate, as this may can cause streaking.

What should I wear or bring to my tanning appointment?

During your tan you can undress to your comfort level. Disposable undergarments are provided for your convenience. We require that all male and minor clients wear undergarments. After your session we recommend you wear loose fitting, dark clothing and flip flop shoes. Tight or rough clothes, including socks and bras can rub the skin and remove and or reduce the effect of your tan.

What can ruin my spray tan as it sets?

Do not allow your skin to come in contact with any water or product until your tan has fully set. This means no showering or getting wet for at least 6 hours after receiving an original tan. If you have been sprayed with an rapid tan solution, then follow a showering guidelines provided by your technician.

No products, including make-up and moisturizers. No physical activities that will cause you to sweat until after your second shower. No crying, washing hands, or washing dishes. We recommend using a straw to drink liquids so as to to spill or drip any on your face. Also, do not touch your face or scratch your skin. Finally, avoid skin-to-skin contact with anyone else’s skin for the few hours while your tan sets.

PLEASE BE AWARE: If it is raining/snowing when you come in for your appointment, you should wear a full shoe and don’t forget your umbrella! Any water that comes in contact with your skin while your tan is setting will remove or cause the tan to be spotty.
